Season's Greetings from Gordon Brothers International...
As 2007 draws to a close we can look back on a great year both at home and in Europe. A small selection of the work carried out is detailed in this newsletter, including details of exciting projects in Austria and Germany. German retailer Wörhl appointed Gordon Brothers International (GBI) to oversee the closure of Carnaby’s, a prestigious store in Nuremburg. The seven week project, which included additional events within the discount programme, was a resounding success and is a tribute to the professionalism and expertise of the GBI team.

Onwards and upwards for 2007...
Onwards and upwards is the news from Gordon Brothers International - we finished 2006 by expanding in Romania and completing deals in Germany and Austria, leaving us well positioned to continue growing in 2007. Leading European DIY retail chain Praktiker appointed Gordon Brothers International (GBI) to clear four of its stores in Austria. The eight-and-a-half week project, under pinned by an aggressive promotional and marketing campaign, was described by Praktikeras an “unbelievable” success and is a tribute to the professionalism and expertise of the GBI team.

New faces New challenges...
The summer months have certainly been an interesting and busy time for Gordon Brothers. Firstly, I would like to say how delighted I am to have been appointed as Chief Executive, Europe. I’m looking forward to tackling the challenges ahead as I start my new role at such an exciting time for the company. Secondly I’d like to wish Andy Meehan well in his new role as Vice Chairman, Europe, after six highly successful years as Chief Executive during which he was instrumental in the creation of a pan-European business, capitalising on the strength of Gordon Brothers’ heritage in the US. Under his direction the company established the first offices outside the US, in London and Cologne.

Christmas Greetings
I am writing this in the warmth of our comfortable London office on an early December afternoon. I have returned from a networking Christmas lunch and I am looking forward to yet another drinks party in the evening. Tomorrow and the day after and the day after are yet more parties...and so it goes.

ISSUE 6
There's more to life
So far 2005 has been a year in which we have carried out projects for corporate clients seeking to solve problems without recourse to formal insolvency procedures. We now have a significant track record of this kind of work. In this edition of the newsletter we describe two retail projects of this type.

Moving Forward

The turn of the year is a time for reflection of what has passed and a time to look forward to the prospects for the coming year. It has certainly been another busy and eventful year for Gordon Brothers. Some of you may have noticed that we have changed our name and our branding. We are now Gordon Brothers International. This is a move that reflects our growing
international presence.

ISSUE 4
Broadening our Range

Once again I am delighted to report on another busy and interesting period for Gordon Brothers since our last newsletter. On the Continent the retail enviroment continues to reflect general economic difficulties especially in Germany. We recently finished helping Gruppo Coin, the Italian department
store and fashion retailer, close 76 of its Oviesse stores in Germany. The project was complex and its success was a tribute to the excellent partnership working by Gordon Brothers and the client. In this issue Franz Hilburger, COO of Oviesse in Germany, shares some of his thoughts on what it's like working with Gordon Brothers.

ISSUE 3
A Fresh Start to a New Year

At the time of writing England has just won the Rugby World Cup and all is well with the world. However we are all sitting here wondering whether the Christmas sales boom is actually going to happen this year or whether the late November and early December sluggishness was the foretaste of difficult times ahead.

ISSUE 2
Expanding the Boundaries

This year is special for Gordon Brothers not only because of our 100th anniversary, but also because it is our fifth year of doing business in Europe. The fruits of our commitment and hard work allow all of us at Gordon Brothers to be proud and excited about a rapidly growing business in the UK and continental Europe.

ISSUE 1
Celebrating 100 Years

It’s a great pleasure for me to write the introduction to this inaugural newsletter of our European business. We hope it will become a regular communication with our network of friends across Europe.
