Praktiker
“The whole project was a huge success for us at Praktiker. We were really pleased with the speed, responsiveness and general ‘can-do’ and ‘make-it-happen’ attitude…”
Karl-Heinz Keth, Geschäftsführer, Praktiker, Austria & Hungary
Praktiker, a market leading German DIY chain, decided to exit the Austrian market, following a strategic review of its international operations. Gordon Brothers’ proven experience in delivering co-ordinated international store closures, utilising German-speaking DIY retail specialists, was critical to the success of executing a fast and efficient trade-out strategy to meet the Client’s tight deadlines.
Crucial to the success of the project was the strong marketing plan designed and implemented by Gordon Brothers, including in-store signage, local media advertising and, crucially, a highly successful direct mail campaign to professional tradesmen within each store’s catchment area.
Gordon Brothers managed the whole process and provided a financial guarantee to ensure certainty for the Client. This allowed them to not only minimise the costs involved with exiting the Austrian market, but also to turn their attention to addressing other important operational issues within the rest of the businesses, without the distraction of implementing a store closure programme. Importantly, Gordon Brothers was able to mobilise and co-ordinate the necessary resources so that the project was fully operational within just 3-weeks, following the first conversation with the Client!
Karl-Heinz Keth, Geschäftsführer of Praktiker, Austria & Hungary, said, “The whole project was a huge success for us at Praktiker. We were really pleased with the speed, responsiveness and general ‘can-do’ and ‘make-it-happen’ attitude shown by the Gordon Brothers’ team. Equally, though, our teams had a great collaboration together that ensured success. This was a highly challenging project that was carried out seamlessly and within deadline.”
